Pence (1851-1859)

The Province of Canada issued its first stamps in 1851. Six values were released:

Collectors (and catalogues) recognize varieties in paper (wove vs. laid), separation (imperf vs. perforated

Cents (1859-1864)

The first decimal (cents) issued stamps appeared in 1859. Six values were released:

Small Queens (1870-1897)

The Small Queens, so called because of their relative size to the Large Queen stamps, included ten values.

Collectors (and catalogues) recognize perforation, colour/shade, paper and different printing location (Ottawa vs Montreal) varieties.
